Chief Operating Officer Jobs description
The chief operating officer is situated at the senior management level in an organization, and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision for organization-wide operations. He or she also participates in the strategic management of the organization and the establishment of organizational values and best practices/policies; ensures that annual and longer-term revenue and profit objectives are met; oversees the performance of all the business divisions and managers; and actively manages the allocation of resources to various divisions and units. The chief operating officer reports directly to the chief executive officer (CEO).Some organizations may also refer to this position as chief operations officer, COO, executive vice president, chief administrative officer, operations director, senior director, or general manager. It is advisable to have 15-plus years of operations management experience in order to apply for this position. Some applicants may also be interested in chief executive officer, managing director, executive vice president, general manager, and president positions.
