Accounting Controller Jobs description

A controller position is an executive-level position bearing broad responsibility for the given company\'s accounting management. A controller typically reports to the chief financial officer (CFO). The typical duties for controller positions include recommending and implementing process-improvement solutions; assisting the CFO with accounting-related projects; conducting complete business reviews of profit centers; participating in the planning and/or implementation of core accounting processes; assisting in due diligence; and giving presentations to both C-level executives and project managers.

One can look for controller positions in the accounting or finance departments of any medium- to large-sized organization. Serious applicants typically have a bachelor\'s degree in accounting, a CPA, a CMA, or some other relevant accounting qualification. Applicants may be required to have at least five years of experience in an accounting management role and familiarity with job costing, vendor management, and accounts payable and accounts receivable (AP/AR) functions. Expertise in accounting software is essential for these positions.
