Chief Information Officer Jobs description

The chief information officer provides leadership and management for all the information technology services and operations in the given organization. This executive is responsible for the establishment and implementation of best practices in information technology and for strategic planning relating to IT activities. Because this is a C-level position, the incumbent reports directly to the president/CEO of the organization.

The serious applicant must have a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably in computer science or information technology, and 5+ years of experience in project management, IT security management, and network/server maintenance. The applicant must be familiar with the Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems and management information systems (MIS), internet telephony, etc. Knowledge of current IT applications, methods, and standards is also required. Similar positions may bear titles such as deputy chief information officer, chief information security officer, chief IT security officer, chief IT officer, senior IT officer, deputy chief information officer for IT security, among others.
