Aon Intellectual Property Solutions Valuation Vice President  Role SpecificsThe launch of Aon’s Intellectual Property Solutions (AIPS) in May 2018 represents Aon’s commitment to helping clients navigate the complex and difficult intellectual property (IP) space.   We have assembled a world-class team of professionals with deep expertise and extensive experience in all facets of IP-driven corporate value creation.  Our team includes: executives who led IP strategy and monetization functions at major corporations, legal experts, valuation experts, dedicated brokers specializing in IP risk transfer solutions, data scientists, analysts, and information technology professionals.Our solutions include insurance products aimed at providing businesses with ways to mitigate potential losses from IP infringement related risks.  We also offer a product that facilitates IP-driven companies’ ability to pledge IP assets as collateral for insurance-backed loans, which can dramatically change how such companies go about financing their growth.  In this context, we provide insurance market participants with valuation services that enable them to assess the collateral and requested coverage in connection with the loan.    In addition, we provide IP-driven companies and financial market players who are active investors in such companies with advisory services for creation of corporate value through strategic management and leveraging of IP assets.IP valuation plays a critical role in all of our product and service offerings.  We have a substantial pipeline of opportunities for all of our offerings at this time, and we anticipate steady growth in AIPS’s business in the years ahead.  In light of this, we need to expand the capacity of our valuation team with an experienced, turnkey professional to help us meet the internal and external demand for valuation expertise with high-quality work product standards and within the time frames dictated by each opportunity. Job Description Summary Be an integral part of the Aon Intellectual Property Solutions team, leading IP valuation projects in support of our various product and service offerings, expanding the capacity of our current IP valuation team at the senior level, and assisting as necessary in other facets of our business.  Our Chicago office is the preferred location for this position.    What Your Day Will Look Like:Lead AIPS teams on valuation projects with management responsibility for all project aspects, including but not limited to: planning and oversight of project schedules taking into account relevant deadlines, available team resources, and budgetary considerations; definition of analysis approaches and methodologies that address the specific needs of each project; communication with internal and external stakeholders; supervision of more junior team members; design and editing of deliverables; and work product quality control.Advise insurance carriers in their underwriting and capital deployment for IP-related business opportunities.Assist in the development and implement processes for standardization of work product building blocks that are common to most AIPS valuation projects.Assist with identification, procurement, and adoption of external-source tools that may enhance the efficacy and timeliness of the AIPS valuation team‘s work.Train, coach, and mentor more junior team members by being a role model and providing timely, substantive, and actionable feedback.Support AIPS broking team by preparing for and participating in business development meetings with external parties, conducting preliminary valuation assessments to screen new business opportunities, drafting proposed statements of work for prospective client engagements, and conducting internal training on valuation topics.Support AIPS technology and data science team in the development of tools and data sources to be used in valuation products and services.Assist in the development of thought leadership content.Represent the leadership and management of AIPS in a way that mirrors AIPS’s adopted mission, core values, and culture. Help drive AIPS to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.Exhibit a can-do and collaborative attitude that connects across teams and Aon as a whole.Educate members of Aon’s network with thought leadership that shares best practices.Represent attributes of stewardship, humility, integrity, trust, and gratitude. You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Required Experience:10-plus years of experience as a senior valuation professional at premier consultancies, private equity firms, or corporate development departments, dealing with various asset classes in a wide range of transactional settings and industries.  IP-focus a plus but not a requirement.Superior analytical skills and problem-solving creativity in rigorous, DCF-driven financial valuation contexts. Keen attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and strong sense of ownership for work performed.  Clear and concise verbal and written communications skills.Proven ability to efficiently plan and effectively execute due diligence on subject companies, including extensive involvement with companies’ senior management.Proven ability to lead project teams and develop junior team members.Proven ability to present work product credibly to external audiences in close-scrutiny/challenging situations.Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and polished professional demeanor.Ability to perform in a fast-paced, driven environment that requires responsiveness and high value-added contributions while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.Substantial involvement and visibility in IP-focused or other professional forums a plus.Education:Bachelor and Master degrees in business administration, accounting, or economics.  Concentration or major in finance strongly preferred.IP-focused professional certifications a plus. How we support our colleagues  In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
