Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Cook, the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) will be a key member of the executive team and will help drive decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating principles and operational execution. S/he will be a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive team. The CFO will ensure that the company creates the financial infrastructure required to support this growth and will help drive the strategy for investor relations and external partnership opportunities. S/he will develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. The CFO will work closely with the board of directors and with investors.
The Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be a leader who is a broad gauged, strategic executive with a track record of success within the life sciences and or high-technology industries. Experience with significant deals/transactions and a strong operational finance background are essential. Ideally, this individual will have experience within both public and private company environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with the entire management team at GRAIL to help strategize on how to best manage and finance the company for the most successful outcome. While it is not required that the candidate has a CPA, they must be able to effectively communicate with the audit committee, investors, and external auditors and advisors.

Provide strategic leadership and insight on future financing plans, including helping to evaluate creative financing strategies, generating options/alternatives for accessing capital, as well as supporting financial evaluation of these transactions.
Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
Manage all aspects of the finance and accounting functions for the organization and ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
Develop and maintain relationships with investors, based upon his/her credibility and name recognition. Devise capital strategies and negotiate large capital transactions.
Arrange for debt and equity financing.
Represent company to the financial community, including investment bankers, analysts, and potential investors. Prepare various analyses and reports required for corporate development efforts.
Report financial results to the board of directors. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors.
Implement timely and accurate reporting and analysis, both written and oral, of financial and associated business information to internal, external, and regulatory constituencies.
Manage the financial analysis and reporting involved in the execution and integration of mergers, acquisitions, business partnerships, and licensing agreements.
