Reporting directly to the CEO of GreaterGood, and serving as a member of the leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a critical leadership role that will serve as a strategic thought partner and support GreaterGood as it grows and deepens its impact. The CFO has financial oversight for an organization consisting of a network of online cause-related audiences and web sites, with ecommerce and ad-supported content that help support these causes. The CFO is responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, reporting, accounting, cash and inventory management, banking and treasury. The CFO manages a team of 4 and a financial services vendor. The role is based in Seattle with occasional travel to MN and MI.
Serve as a valued thought partner to the CEO and leadership team in developing and evaluating strategic goals and objectives, with specific ownership of finance and accounting decisions
Work with CEO to provide ownership and funders with timely financial information and be available to communicate complex financial information, including risks and opportunities, in clear and compelling ways
Lead analysis and contribute to negotiations regarding potential strategic partnerships, e-commerce agreements and other potential income streams
Lead budgeting, forecasting, analysis, reporting, and long-range planning; propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
Lead banking and cash management relationships and accounts; propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives and covenants are attained
Develop tools and systems to provide staff with critical reports and analytics to inform decision-making and ensure full transparency of financials
Work closely with the leadership team and staff to enhance systems to accurately develop and track revenues and expenses, and to develop strategies to increase revenues and reduce costs
Lead the negotiation of cost effective contracts with vendors
Manage the leadership for the Fulfillment Center (FC); maintain best practice inventory controls to support our growth or market changes
Provide oversight of all accounting, payroll and audit activities and reporting; ensure accuracy and compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Lead cash flow planning and forecasting; oversee cash, investment and asset management
Establish effective policies and processes and ensure strong internal controls over all accounting procedures
Inspire, mentor and lead the finance and accounting teams
Clarify roles and responsibilities, establish and monitor performance goals and implement professional development to set employees up for success and professional growth
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA preferred)
Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CPA)
10 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, including banking relationships
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as advanced financial modeling skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
Experience in partnering with an executive team
Experience in establishing, negotiating, and maintaining relationships with financial institutions
Experience with a family-run business
Experience with ecommerce operations
Experience with organizations utilizing social media advertising and ad revenue from content and web publishing
