The Executive Director of Sales and Marketing plays a strategic role within the Carteret County Tourism Development Authority (CCTDA) and is responsible for setting sales goals, maximizing revenue, developing and implementing a strategic sales plan that collaboratively sells through property management businesses, hotels, motels and inns.Required Documents with ApplicationCover LetterCurriculum Vitae (not resume)*Please note, we are unable to consider any candidate who submits a resume in lieu of a true curriculum vitae.QualificationsIdeate, define and lead sales opportunities for putting “heads in beds”Work strategically with a wide variety of lodging partners to build off-season rental volumeDirect team members who also sell the destinationSupport the entire sales team in closing dealsSupport external marketing agencies in strategic plan development, plan implementation; support FAM tours, managing reporting and overall brand presentationSeven to 10-years sales and marketing experience including development of strategic sales plans and execution that drives lodging revenue within tourism-based destinationProven track record of developing and managing a sales team, that meets and\/or exceeds revenue goalsDevelop a strategic sales plan to increase occupancy throughout the County – for all lodging types: inns, motels, cottages, condos, homes, B&B, etc.Forecast sales revenue through the creation of annual, outbound sales programDevelop, execute and maintain a strategic sales plan targeting audiences not reached through existing marketing channels and programsLead, manage and mentor the overall sales team including facilities direct reportsMeet and exceed revenue goals by developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies and identifying success measurements for sales teamDirect sales tactics including trade shows, sales blitzes, web-based information, advertising and collateral; including attendance to lead effortsDirect sales team to identify and contract with new strategic sales distribution channels; identifying requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with local business partners and their operationsLead the overall team to increase customer contacts through trade shows, sales calls, promotional efforts and partnershipsSupport BOD in identifying new opportunities including new technology to improve processes and customer serviceManage tourism sales and special programs budgetResponsible for sales forecast, budget and monthly attendance and revenue reports for BODEnsure brand integrity for all sales collateral and communication along with presence on sales distribution channelsTasked to increase sales and promotional effectiveness and keep abreast of industry trends by representing the CCTDA in appropriate trade organizationsPeriodically evaluate the sales initiatives of the team and provide recommended modifications to BODRepresent CCTDA on community and industry boards as appropriateCrisis management lead to ensure accurate information is prepared and disseminated to appropriate media outletsStrategic leader in the development of itineraries (and content) for selling the CountyManagement of the existing Visitor Welcome Centers and serves as director of business operations for CCTDAAssist DOE in managing grant requests from events and partners to ensure completed applications are received and forwarded to the grant committee.Stay informed (and current) with State tax law and legislative issues associated with CCTDACultivate relationships with State Representatives who affect tourism development within the region and within Carteret CountyAct as a liaison with County Commissioners, Chamber of Commerce, EDC, Association of Realtors and other key associations affecting tourism within the CountyKey criteria Deductive thinker who can strategically plan and lead the sales processProven experience in accurately forecasting revenue within the lodging industryExperience working in large organizationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skillsStrong negotiation skills; experience with sponsorship creation and partnership developmentAbility to collaborate effectively with property management owners and business leadersExperience in negotiating and writing contracts with vendors, suppliers and event partnersExcellent computer interface skillsBachelor Degree in business, marketing, communications or accounting preferred; MBA a plusPolicy NotesCompensation package including bonus potential commensurate with experienceAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.As permitted by our state law, job applicants may be drug screened as part of the employment hiring process.
