General Statement of Duties

Overall management of all aspects of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP), pursuant to C.R.C.P. Rule 254, as adopted by the Colorado Supreme Court, June 2011.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in the mental health field.

Supervision and management experience.

Demonstrated effective public speaking.

Demonstrated and verifiable reputation for integrity.

Minimum Education and Experience

Qualifications:

An attorney (Juris Doctor) with an active license in good standing, or in the alternative, a master’s degree with licensure in mental health or social services and /or an advanced nursing degree.

Completion of an addiction certification program may also be helpful.

Executive Director, Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP)

The Colorado Supreme Court Advisory Committee seeks applications for the COLAP Executive Director position because of the pending retirement of the current Executive Director on June 30, 2018.

COLAP’s mission is to assist members of the legal profession with whatever is impacting their ability to be a productive member of the legal profession, including members impaired by mental health issues and/or substance use disorders. Its mission also includes educating the bench, bar and law schools to the causes of and remedies for impairment affecting members of the legal profession, and by doing so to protect the interests of clients, litigants and the general public from harm caused by impairment issues.

The Executive Director oversees all aspects of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program.

Qualifications:

An attorney (Juris Doctor) with an active license in good standing, or in the alternative, a masters degree with licensure in mental health or social services and /or an advanced nursing degree.

Completion of an addiction certification program may also be helpful.

Demonstrated experience in the mental health field.

Compensation:

The salary range is $100,000 to $115,000, depending on experience, plus Colorado State Judicial Department benefits.

This position is not covered by the Colorado Judicial Department Personnel rules.
