The Hartford is looking for a seasoned leader in its Group Benefit Operations function.  This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader who has strong financial skills and ability to lead a complex organization through a significant transformation as we integrate the former Aetna Group Insurance Business with The Hartford. The preference is to fill the role in Windsor, CT.  The primary accountabilities are: Provide strategic direction, visionary thinking, seasoned judgment, financial acumen and leadership when making decisions as it relates to the customer service experience of the Premium Billing, Revenue Management and Medical Underwriting functions of the Group Benefits business.  Incumbent will be accountable for revenue management of a $5.2B book of business.Develop the operations strategy for those functions inclusive of innovative, automation, forecasting, staffing, management and reporting across multiple teams located in CT, Omaha, Kansas City, remote staff. Responsible for a Hartford workforce of approximately 130 employees as well as oversight of off-shore vendor partners.    This highly visible position interfaces with senior business leaders across segments as well as functional areas, field sales and account management and is responsible for an operating budget of approximately $10.6MLead the multi-year Billing conversion plan to move more than 7,000 policies onto Hartford Billing platforms and run monthly billing cycle producing close to 42,000 bills each month.  Lead Next Gen Billing system transformation and heaped commission project for our voluntary business ensuring process, training and quality programs are aligned.Works closely with the Senior Leadership team to understand business priorities and evolving customer expectations.  This individual is responsible for providing leadership direction to his/her team with ultimate accountability for service timeliness, quality and customer satisfaction and efficiency objectives across the operation. Through The Hartford Way, the successful incumbent will achieve these objectives through achievement of operational excellence, process improvements, financial discipline and accountability to reduce year over year unit costs.   In addition they will maintain a high degree of focus on the cultural integration to provide high engagement and a positive work experience for our employees.  This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Group Benefits Operations.   Responsibilities:Strategic Planning - Accountable for creating the strategy for the Billing, Revenue Management and Medical UW teams to achieve a distinctive competitive advantage in the market.  This requires competitive benchmarking to identify key competitor strengths and weaknesses, innovative automation opportunities that enable us to anticipate customer needs and win with service as our differentiator.Leadership Development and organizational effectiveness - Accountable for creating and providing clear direction to continually strengthen and develop leadership talent and building a strong leadership pipeline.  Responsible for continued integration of organizational processes and cultures.Operational Execution - Accountable for new business and renewal billing, receivable and suspense management, premium audit and financial management.  Partnership/Influencing - Accountable for developing collaborative relationships both internally and externally.  Responsible for building effective relationships with business partners including Product, Marketing, Compliance, Underwriting, Sales and Technology.  QualificationsA minimum of 6 years of leadership experience in the Group Benefits industry required with 2 years minimum at the AVP level or equivalent.  Broad operational leadership with specific experience working with Billing or financial management required.  Transformational leadership experience as it relates to conversion to new platforms and processes a significant plus.
