This role will provide functional expertise to lead and direct in-depth analyses of key claims risk metrics, trending, budget and costs. S/he will provide oversight and deploy a team of risk resources to drive intended outcomes. S/he will establish and direct implementation of team priorities, performance goals, and objectives to ensure results related to claims risk and expense variances.
Collaborates with Claims and Finance leaders to develop strategic recommendations to mitigate risk.
Collaborates with Finance and Valuation Resources to ensure strategic alignment between operational areas and financial objectives.
Deploys claims risk resources to analyze and recommend actions to ensure appropriate claims handling.
Directs cause/effect analyses and the evaluation of alternative means to reduce the organizations exposure to risk & loss; leads the development of remediation plans and risk mitigation strategies.
Directs financial resources to research individual metrics and interpret how each variable contributes to favorable / unfavorable trending against financial plan performance.
Directs senior-level claims risk resources to review individual claims/blocks of claims and to partner with claim operational leaders to identify areas of opportunity for improved risk management.
Directs team to analyze and report on budget trends for the Claims function, working with senior Claims and other operational leaders to identify trends and understand factors leading to budget variance, etc.
Directs team to monitor financial and budget performance monitored weekly / monthly, with remediation plans executed as needed.
Establishes and directs the strategy for analysis of claims risk trends and financial outcomes for metrics including: claims loss ratio, claim resolution rates, approval rates, paid durations, STD to LTD transition rates, etc.
Education & Experience
10 Years of experience in actuarial science, accounting, or financial analysis that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3 years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influence.(Required)
Other: Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Accounting or other quantitative major. (Minimum Required)
