**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is looking for a VP, Product Development and Marketing to lead our stellar global product marketing and development team, from ideation and concept phase through to launch. Current categories include skincare, cosmetics, bodycare and fragrance. This position is highly cross-functional, working closely with the Marketing, Editorial, Creative, R&D, Packaging, Supply Chain, Quality and Customer Experience teams. In addition to managing product, the VP, Product Development and Marketing will be responsible for exploring trends, product innovations, identifying new market opportunities, building business cases for new launches, aligning with company objectives and prioritizing customer experience as the main driver for final product performance.
Kickstart and lead ideation and concept phase for new product development
Manage all phases of product development, from new product initiation to vendor briefs to formula approval to product naming and pricing strategy to production-ready for all launches
Build data, trend and competition-driven business cases for new product concepts
Develop and validate product claims in partnership with R&D, vendor labs and Marketing team
Lead and own market research initiatives for key launches (focus groups, concept-use tests, etc)
Develop launch assets and broad marketing guidelines for new products in collaboration with Marketing and Creative teams
Build and own 3-year product calendar and portfolio strategy in close collaboration with cross-functional teams
Drive existing product optimization, ensuring competitive positioning and best-in-class customer experience, through reformulations, repackaging, extensions and updated claims testing; collaborate with Marketing to drive sales growth of each existing product and category
Lead strategy to maximize sales of in-market product portfolio, identifying key market opportunities to drive holistic portfolio success, including consumer trends, new target audiences and new positioning
Maintain constant pulse of competitive landscape identifying trends, innovations, new products and both current and emerging competitors
Lead team in exploration and presentation of new product concepts to senior management including ingredients, textures, formats and packaging
Work in collaboration with Finance to create new product launch forecast and align with company’s growth and revenue objectives
Lead global pricing strategy across full product line for optimal customer experience, strategic competitive positioning and margin management, aligned with Finance and Operations
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with contract manufacturers, participating in on-site formula development and line trials
Directly manage and actively support category leads and their teams
Directly manage Product Marketing and Development budgets
Develop and mentor team members for future success and in support of company growth, collaboration and team building
8 years experience in product marketing and development, with 4 years of management experience
Strong background in CPG
Passionate about beauty, creative and willing to take risks to develop unique product concepts
Ability to think both strategically and tactically with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent leadership skills, with ability to scale and ultimately lead a high-performing global team
Highly collaborative and flexible team player, able to adapt to changes
Highly organized and calendar driven, able to handle many competing priorities
Exceptional interpersonal skills for verbal and written communication with executives, peers, employees, vendors and customers
Domestic and international travel is required
Preferred Qualifications
MBA degree
Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment
Willingness to take risks and challenge traditional product development philosophies
Experience and strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers
