Job Description:

The Strategic Transformation Group (STG) is focused on partnering with Ameriprise leaders to capture business opportunities which drive operational / process improvement, risk reduction, and expense efficiency across the enterprise. The VP - Strategic Transformation leader acts an internal consultant for Ameriprise by leading projects / teams and providing data supported strategic and operational thought leadership which supports an overall continuous improvement environment.


•Partner with business leaders to identify baseline activities and opportunities to improve current state and transform operations / processes through change initiatives that result in improved business operations and / or economics. Gather extensive data to perform multiple analyses; develop data-driven conclusions and present facts and recommendations on improvement opportunities.

•Provides strategic leadership to business executives and their organizations to achieve goals in all aspects of their business. Work directly with Executive Leadership Team and senior business leaders to develop strategies and execute transformational change within the respective organization; many initiatives are cross functional and require leadership of cross-organizational resources to effect change.

•Develop overall project plan for the identified initiatives, ensuring stakeholder agreement on overall objective, key deliverables and timetable for completion. Execute and deliver on approved initiative, measuring progress and reporting status to stakeholders throughout the project.

•Pro-actively define enterprise improvement initiatives and propose opportunities, preliminary hypothesis, and approach to business leaders. Partner with STG leadership to maintain a pipeline of opportunities and prioritize based on team capacity and overall benefit to the organization.

•Provide leadership to direct reports including coaching, mentoring, goal setting and annual performance reviews. Provide leadership to cross-functional teams often required for project analysis and execution.

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree

•10 years of experience in business transformation or similar role

•5-7 years consulting experience at a top-tier firm

•Experience leading cross-functional projects

•Ability to apply strategic thinking, data analytics, and critical problem solving to inform and influence senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

•Master's degree in Finance, MIS, Engineering or related field
