TITLE: VP, Development

DEPARTMENT:Development

REPORTS TO: CEO/President

STATUS:Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the President and CEO, the VP, Development, plays a pivotal role in leading the development team to grow its infrastructure into a donor-centric model. This person will oversee the solicitation of $100,000 gifts, major gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· The VP, Development will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow through the solicitation of $100,000 gifts, major gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support

· Expand and diversify NYWF’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives

· The VP will work closely with the Board of Directors and support Board members as they take on a more active fundraising role

· It is expected that the amount raised by NYWF will increase in future years as the VP, Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity

· Support and partner with the President and CEO and Board members on all major fundraising initiatives

· Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to Board and senior leaders

· Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors

· Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program

· Identify, develop, and mentor the development team

· Participate in development monthly staff meetings/prospect tracking meetings/committee meetings/staff retreats

· Oversee Senior Director, Principal and Major Gifts, Senior Director, Corporations, Manager, Foundations, Prospect Manager, Manager, Events and Manager, Digital and Grassroots Development

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ten-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)

· Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred

· Ability to understand needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships

· Interest in all aspects of helping women and girls and a dedication to promoting NYWF’s fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with leaders, volunteers, and the development office team

· Commitment to the highest ethical standards

· Have transitioned an organization from an event-driven fundraising operation to a donor-centered focus

· Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time

· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships; strong organizational skills

· Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives

· Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside NYWF

· Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan

· Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

· A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time; high energy and passion for NYWF’s mission
