New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

Responsibilities

*Work with the Investment and LTC team, field managers (MPs, DMs and Partners), cultural markets, sales desk and others to effectively communicate and coordinate sales strategies.  *Create PowerPoint presentations based on sales ideas from consultants and agents and be able to present those ideas for consideration to senior managers for monthly team webinars, kickoff, and national meetings (Partners, Council, DM, target markets). *Monitor and analyze sales results across all product lines to map sales trends and target opportunities for improvement. *Provide sales data analytics that identifies business opportunities for growing sales, agents selling, offices with opportunity, and other metrics to increase sales.  *Develop and recommend creative solutions to deficits, e.g., sales concepts, initiatives, campaigns, incentives. *Work with our marketing partners to track the success of sales concepts, campaigns and incentives. *Coordinate with product consultants and zone personnel as required to disseminate information in a strategic fashion.  *Create network of Field personnel to gather information, establish best practices and nurture grassroots communications efforts. *Track and provide weekly and monthly reports on initiative and sales results.  This includes incentive tracking and reporting, sales campaign tracking, and ad hoc data needs. *Support senior leadership on ad hoc project requests. *Travel 15-20% of time.

Qualifications

*Bachelor's degree preferred *Series 6 or 7 preferred *Strong written and verbal communication skills; some presentation experience (both creating and delivering). *Ability to interact with various departments within New York Life, with people at various levels in the organization and the Field in particular agents. *Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint. *Advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables). *Experience analyzing data and translating numbers into insights. *Self-motivated individual with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. *Ability to work independently and/or as part of team. *Knowledge of New York Life product portfolio essential. *Strong understanding of career agency field operations and the life insurance sales process.
