Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the President of the Transit Bus Business, this position will be responsible for leading the quality assurance and continuous improvement function and oversight across the Transit Bus Business Operations. This position will also lead the overall quality & continuous improvement organization including achievement of annual operating plans, staffing, performance reviews, succession plans, empowerment, motivation, and safety and career/skills development.

What You Will Do:

- Lead the quality team comprised of business and functional area quality managers and supplier quality.
- Develop and maintain quality processes and systems that meet both customer requirements and regulatory requirements with emphasis on prevention. Ensure quality system metrics and key process indicators are identified and the results of processes are used to drive continuous improvement.
- Build a strong quality function that builds compliance and continuous improvement into business and functional activities. Leverage and promote the appropriate problem-solving methodologies to ensure that structured problem solving is a major component of New Flyers commitment to Operational Excellence.
- Lead by example to promote continuous improvement as part of New Flyers culture across the organization.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities and systems are validated and that a robust change/control system and procedures are developed to meet company and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain proactive, cooperative and professional customer relationships
- Monitor, trend, report and drive performance towards the companys goals and objectives using key metrics and communications to achieve desired results and behaviors.
- Manage implementation of best practice quality processes into all areas of the transit bus business with focus on design, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management.
- Contribute towards the bus business strategy, long range planning, and creation of the annual operating plan in addition to managing the quality budget.
- Assist other departments in implementation of advanced quality techniques.
- Responsible to ensure policies and processes are established and adhered to ensure goals and objectives for all regulatory and legal requirements are met including quality, environmental, safety and health programs.
Preferred Skills

- Undergraduate Degree or masters in engineering or a combination of related education and experience.
- Ten years of relevant experience in a large manufacturing environment with at least four years in a quality senior leadership role.
- Strong blend of management skills and technical expertise demonstrated by superior planning, decision-making, negotiation, leadership, and financial management skills.
- Previous experience in QS-9000, or ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 environment.
- Lean manufacturing and strategy deployment experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills coupled with the ability to influence others.
- Strong business acumen and ability to converse and present professionally and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
