Profile

Position:
WoS is seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to serve in the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer to oversee its operational, financial and administrative services for its growing group of affiliated programs. The COO will report to WoS’ Executive Director and initially be responsible for ensuring that effective systems, structures and processes are developed and institutionalized to support WoS’ programs while addressing the challenges and solutions for future growth. It is anticipated that this role will evolve to include additional responsibilities including fundraising, donor relations, oversight of curriculum, and identification and implementation of new program locations. This is an excellent opportunity for an executive with operational and project management experience and a proven track record of creative problem solving to join a socially valuable growth and mission-driven organization.
This role will commence with flexible working hours with intent to evolve to a full-time position as additional responsibilities are successfully transferred to the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be based in the New York City metropolitan area.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Duties:
Working closely with the Executive Director to:
Unify, shape and implement all organizational components of WoS Take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of camps
Strengthen processes and infrastructure that support WoS’ growth
Identify and maintain relationships with stakeholders and donors
Maintain program curriculum and ensure qualified teaching staff is in place
Develop strategies relating to social media and marketing
Develop tracking system of past participants and contact information of “related parties”
Manage WoS’ day-to-day operational and administrative functions, including legal and tax compliance
Manage ad hoc/non-program student and fundraising events
Negotiate and oversee all contractual agreements (in consultation with legal counsel)
Develop and monitor methodology to measure, evaluate and track impact of WoS’ activities
Advise Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding financial planning, budgetarycash-flow and policy matters.
Qualifications:
Self-reliant, analytical thinker, good problem solver with a results orientation
Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and direct duties
Ability to set and communicate clear strategy for the accomplishment of goals
Ability to bring projects to successful conclusions
Passionate about making positive impact for at-risk youth
Proven track record in leading operational function
Creativity, flexibility and resiliency in approach
Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a related field
At least five years of experience with demonstrated success in a management/leadershipcapacity in education, sports or business
Fund-raising and/or client relationship experience strongly preferred
Not-for-profit experience, preferably in children services, educational or athletic sectors
Experience in organized athletics at collegiate and/or professional level preferred
