Stellar Academy for Dyslexics - Executive Director Position DescriptionStellar Academy for Dyslexics is seeking a self-motivated, organized and empathic person with good communication skills and a high degree of personal initiative to assume the role of executive director of the school during Summer School 2018, then in the Fall 2018 semester. Stellar Academy is a non-profit school that has successfully operated for 34 years, providing education services (based on the Slingerland Approach to Language Arts Instruction®) to dyslexic children between grades 1 and 8. Stellar Academy’s board of directors seeks a full time executive director who can build upon the organization’s success and further expand the reach of its education services to the San Francisco Bay Area’s dyslexic children.The executive director’s role includes:· managing all staffing activities for the school, summer school, tutoring center and administrative office· managing the non-profit business resources, operations and administration including yearly planning, budgeting and expenditure management· outreach to parents of current and prospective students, potential donors, educators, schools, education services and the broader community to raise awareness of dyslexia and the school’s services· communication with parents on school activities and student issues· reporting on school activities and operations to the board of directorsExperience with non-profit organization administration, education or special education services is desirable. Commitment to maintaining the Slingerland Approach to teach students is essential. The successful candidate should be able to attend the school from 8:00am – 5:30pm Monday – Friday from approximately 10 days prior to the start of the school year in mid-August through one-week past summer camp which ends in mid-July.
