Since 1995, A Kid Again fosters hope, happiness and healing for families raising kids with life-threatening illnesses. We provide year-found fun-filled activities for the entire family alongside other families in a similar situation. Overview of the Position:

The Vice President of Development and Marketing will serve on the Executive Leadership Team for the national organization providing strategic and tactical guidance that significantly impacts the mission, vision, growth and success of A Kid Again. This position will have one direct report and will provide guidance, as necessary, to the Executive Directors in the local markets. This person must have proven experience in both marketing (traditional and digital) and fund development (regional and national experience preferred).

The role will oversee the life cycle of philanthropic giving and will be responsible for building sustainable long-term relationships with key partners and donors via prospect research, cultivation, grant management, solicitation, gift procurement, stewardship, information management and any other related actions. The leader will guide the marketing and communications efforts of the National organization to raise awareness with a diverse audience of stakeholders, protect and leverage the brand, and attract donors to support the growing base of families and children who benefit from our services.


The leader will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National organization based out of Columbus, Ohio.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

Provide leadership both strategic and tactical to support the National Office marketing and development goals.

Design, lead, and execute all marketing efforts that increases brand awareness, social media impact, internal and external media relations; and support local chapter efforts as needed.

Design, lead and execute a national fund development strategy that supports the overall mission and vision of the National Office strategic plan.

Create customized sponsorship packages that meet the needs of corporations, foundations and major gift donors.

Create, enhance, and manage sponsorship programs that have national, regional and/or local impact.

Oversee the development and implementation of the strategic fundraising plan and revenue budget.

Manage Raiser’s Edge database on behalf of the National Office and ensure a high degree of accuracy through a system of checks and balance with the chapters.

Oversee and design shared services for both marketing and development that benefit our local chapters and partners.

Increase revenue and in-kind support of the National Office according to the strategic plan and budget; providing support to the local chapters as needed.

Ensure reporting is timely, accurate and accountability measures are in place to achieve goals.

Experience sourcing and managing vendor relationships in both marketing and fund development.

Represent the CEO and organization as needed.

Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and results.

Build a national team.

Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Non-Profit Management, Education, Business related experience required. An MBA preferred.

Strong development and executive leadership demonstrated by 7 years’ experience in non-profit organizations or businesses supporting nonprofits.

Successful work history in designing and implementing development and marketing plans.

Experience in donor stewardship planning and execution.

Excellent communication skills, project management and service orientation.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, to manage multiple priorities, collaborate, and meet deadlines.

Ability to lead, influence, cultivate and negotiate.

Strong working knowledge of current donor software applications, experience using Raisers Edge a plus.

Prior regional or national nonprofit leadership experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, Adobe and software platforms for marketing.

Must be willing to travel at least 50% of the time and work outside of traditional business hours, including weekends – as needed.


Additional Salary Information: Position and compensation commensurate to experience. Alternative work arrangements considered, including periodic work from home.
