In the right hands, data is an immensely powerful tool, and Livongo is looking for that perfect set of hands – and the brain and leadership talent that goes with them. Leading our Data Science team, you will personally help build Livongo’s intellectual property, leveraging data to deliver behavior change in people at risk for or living with chronic conditions. This is a fascinating, innovative, highly-visible role, reporting directly to our Chief Medical Officer.
Our ideal candidate will have the charisma and communication prowess to represent Livongo publicly, enhancing the Livongo brand and reach. At the same time, they’ll excel as a hands-on leader, expanding and inspiring Livongo’s fastest-growing department.

Build out and lead the Data Science team, attracting and mentoring top talent in Livongo’s fastest-growing department
Orchestrate and continually update an increasingly complex AI infrastructure, for use in both product development and growth hacking
Analyze data across unique data sets and leverage findings to advance the Livongo mission and create new corporate IP
Represent Livongo externally, as a thought-leader and brand ambassador
Personally produce ingenious data models, processes, analysis and platforms, to help us illustrate and guide our product development and our brand messaging
Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
Coordinate cross-functionally with other department heads to govern Livongo strategy and product development
Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
Play a strategic role in selecting and optimizing technology enhancers/tools, such as TensorFlow, Python, Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MemSQL, etc.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
Our ideal candidate will have:
10 years of experience building data platforms and statistical models
Direct experience in the digital healthcare industry
Extensive knowledge of and experience building AI platforms
Broad and well-rounded technical expertise and hands-on knowledge of a variety of distributed data/computing tools
A proven track record building and leading data science teams
A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
Experience in a variety of machine learning techniques, with practical understanding of their real-world advantages/drawbacks
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
Experience visualizing/presenting data for key stakeholders, with a charismatic, compelling presentation style
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A passion for innovation and delivering on key objectives, in a fast-paced, rapidly-scaling corporate environment
Excellent collaboration and team-building skills
A PhD in in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
