Job Description:

Partnership with Children (PwC) seeks a dynamic and strategic leader with superior relationship skills and demonstrated success in building capacity and increasing revenue to be its Chief Development Officer. Reporting to the CEO and working in partnership with the CEO and Board of Directors, the Chief Development Officer will be an integral member

of the organization’s senior executive leadership team and will oversee and

for all fundraising, development and external communications.

The Chief Development Officer will build on and expand Partnership with Children’s fundraising strategy, forging new relationships and leveraging current relationships to build PwC's visibility and impact, and to systematically and effectively grow a $12M budget through the solicitation of major gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support. S/he will expand and diversify PwC’s donor base/pipeline and its board, and work closely with team members, the CEO, and the Board of Directors to secure funding for new initiatives and ensure the continued viability of funding for existing programs.

Partnership with Children works with public schools in New York City's highest-need communities to provide critical social and emotional supports for the hardest-to-reach youth and to systematically build schools that are safe, successful and conducive to learning. Partnership with Children prevents and reverses the most damaging effects of toxic stress so

that the city’s most underserved children can succeed in school and beyond.

Partnership with Children’s work spans over a century of reform initiatives and is based on careful evaluation and demonstrated results. Founded as Big Sisters in 1908, the organization began partnering with schools in 1993. Today, Partnership with Children works with students, families, teachers, school support staff and the surrounding communities across all five boroughs in over 30 schools and Alternate Learning Centers, to

ensure that schools are safe, supportive, and enriching for the traditionally hardest-to-reach students. Partnership with Children is the largest provider of support services and resource

coordination in the Mayor’s community school initiative.

Partnership with Children receives substantial funding and support through contracts and grants from the New York City Department of Education, the Robin Hood Foundation, United Way of NYC, New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), and other sources working in New York City’s public schools. Its current fundraising activity is focused primarily on special events and public grants, and the Chief Development Officer will work to diversify and broaden Partnership with Children’s fundraising activity; in particular, to develop a robust major gifts strategy, while continuing to oversee and enhance special events, corporate/foundation giving, and public grants. The organization has grown rapidly through public fundraising, and has built the appropriate infrastructure to sustain its increased programming. Its private fundraising has also grown, with its annual gala raising $1.3 million in 2014, and it has cash reserves to support some investment in long-term sustainability. This role will build on the organization’s recent success and generate a

sustainable fundraising growth strategy.

ESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, oversee and ensure the quality and effectiveness of all fundraising initiatives, focusing in particular on enhancing private sources of funding.

Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership team (Chief Operating Officer, Chief Program Officer, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer) to develop and implement PwC’s financial and fundraising strategy in support of its programs and initiatives.

Work with the CEO and Board of Directors to increase Board-based philanthropic support, deepening current sources, leveraging networks and identifying additional opportunities for Board philanthropic leadership and support.

Actively work with the CEO and senior staff to develop and implement an enhanced overall fundraising, development and external communications strategy and plan for the organization.

Oversee research of funding sources and trends, remaining ahead of the curve to position PwC for ongoing sustainability and growth.

Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at deepening ties and effectively leveraging new and existing donors.

Oversee database and ensure effective use of database by development staff to support fundraising strategy and present clear, cogent reports and analysis to senior team and Board.

Oversee development and execution of all proposals with a long-term relationship- management approach.

Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program.

Build, develop, manage and mentor the development team.

A minimum of 10 years of professional fundraising and development experience, cultivating and managing relationships with multiple donor sources, and leading external communications in support of fundraising.

Demonstrated ability to develop, articulate, and implement a strategic development and external communications plan, with demonstrated success in individual giving, special events, and corporate/foundation philanthropy, as well as public grants.

Exceptional communication skills (written, oral and presentation), with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term, productive relationships.

Experience overseeing events.

Understanding of marketing to donors.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Able to positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives and manage

multiple tasks and projects at a time.

Proven leadership and management skills, with experience building and managing a

high-performing team and fostering an open, trusting, collaborative and respectful team

culture.

A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and take

initiative, while also being a team player who will productively engage with others at

varying levels of seniority within and outside PwC.

Experience representing an organization externally and promoting its programs to

private and public funding sources.

Hands-on experience with one or more donor database/software.

Experience working with boards.

Dynamic and passionate about PwC’s mission.

Demonstrated understanding of high-need communities and public schools as well as

social service, education and behavioral health issues that impact students and their

families, preferred.

Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
