The Position
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. seeks a creative, articulate, organized, and passionate Executive Director- Boston to marshal the city’s resources to support the Scholars from the Greater Boston area and beyond. The Executive Director-Boston will be responsible for the overall implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan to reach revenue goals set forth in the strategic plan by engaging individuals, corporations, and philanthropic institutions in the Greater Boston area, as well as managing foundation relations and grant writing for the organization nationwide.
The Executive Director Boston will report to the Chief Advancement Officer (in Los Angeles) and work closely with the CEO, development team, trustees, donors on the East Coast, and entire Boston staff, as well as manage the Development and Communications Manager in the Boston office and the Boston Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and be accountable for a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising plan for the Greater Boston area, in partnership with the CAO, CEO, Boston Board of Directors, National Director of Career Partnerships, National Director of Mentorship, and the development team.
Oversee a growing two million fundraising portfolio across Greater Boston, providing expertise in soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding donors at the five and six figure giving levels with the highest degree of professionalism and sophistication.
Lead and drive the identification, initiation, and development of strategic partnerships in the Greater Boston area to further SCS Noonan’s mission and cultivate the brand, particularly among potential corporate partners. Work with the National Director of Career Partnerships to ensure corporate partners are appropriately connected to relevant components of the program and expertly stewarded.
Oversee the institutional giving portfolio across the organization. Co-supervise, mentor, train, and support the development and communications manager to create and implement effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for institutional and corporate foundations throughout the organization. Ensure that all grants and reports are submitted in a timely fashion time and are of a high quality.
Create and implement a stewardship plan for all donors, including overseeing events that provide cultivation and stewardship opportunities.
Identify opportunities for increased giving capacity and develop multi-faceted solicitation for existing and new prospects and donors.
Monitor overall expense budget, ensure funder database records are up-to-date, oversee donor acknowledgement and recognition, and aid in preparation of analytical reports to measure progress toward fundraising goals for leadership.
Qualifications:
The Ideal Candidate
Minimum of five to seven years of progressive responsibility in institutional fundraising in the non- profit field, preferably in education
A passion for working with low-income underrepresented students.
Proven ability to personally cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to edit others work and to write and speak in clear and compelling ways
Project management and budget development experience
An individual who thrives in managing both the small details and a big vision; effective in taking initiative and prioritizing short term and long term needs in a fast-paced work environment involving multiple projects and stakeholders
Interested in working with flexibility, energy, passion, and results orientation within a small non- profit environment
A positive attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
Prior supervisory experience
Willingness to work periodic weekends and evenings
Proficiency in Salesforce or other development technology for prospect identification and research
Bachelor’s degree required
