One of the nation’s oldest, largest, and most reputable study abroad providers, IES Abroad is a growing Chicago-based, not-for-profit organization that enrolls more than 5,000 students annually. In 1950, twenty U.S. college students boarded the SS Volendam bound for Vienna to participate in the first IES Abroad program (formerly known as the Institute of European Studies). Today, nearly 60 years later, the study abroad experience still elicits the same response from students--that it irrevocably changed their lives.
