The Role
This position leads the application team for the Distribution and Marketing area with executive liaison responsibilities with leaders in those departments. The AVP leads the development and support of the Distribution and Marketing systems, including development of strategic application roadmaps, management and execution of programs and projects across multiple platform and application suites, and leadership of business process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Directs organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility are meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, customer service, budget, and project management.
Leads the team in execution of any projects in the Distribution and Marketing areas. This includes both custom build and vendor integration.
Collaborates with the Group Protection and Enterprise IT teams to meet the needs of the organization. Collaborates with the Group Protection Portfolio office on project prioritization.
Manages vendors performing services in the Distribution and Marketing IT areas. Collaborates with vendor support teams in Group Protection and Enterprise Services. Works with legal and procurement as necessary on contracts and SOWs.
Coordinates the use of technology standards for the Group Protection business unit and ensures local compliance.
Conducting studies of new technologies to provide more efficient and cost-effective security solutions
Participate in the business strategy, planning, and budget processes.
Contributes to the strategy development of the Distribution and Marketing systems.
Ensures Application Development operational plans are aligned with Lincoln Financial Groups (LFG) overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Directs applications standards and development methodology that can be utilized by development teams for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Directs and maintains an appropriate Application Development structural organization and facilities, for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility capable of supporting the needs of the company through cost-effective information technology.
Assesses and communicates risk associated with IT investments and their associated impacts to productivity to senior leadership.
Directs the Application Development strategic and operational planning for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT infrastructure and systems across the organization.
Develops and directs the departmental budget for his/her area(s) of responsibility; ensures these budgets are within goals.
Manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise employee(s). Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees. Also directly supervises nonsupervisory employee(s).
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures the hiring and retention to high quality talent and provides training opportunities to aid in the development of talent.
Education
4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience (Minimum Required)
Experience
10 of experience years in Application Development that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3 years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
5 years experience working with Senior or Executive management in a corporate environment
Knowledge of distributed application architecture and development, including J2EE, .NET, HTTP, HTML 5, Oracle & SQL Server, Encryption, Service Oriented Architecture, Messaging Middleware, Managed File Transfer, Job Scheduling & Automation and Mainframe Integration techniques.
Knowledge of Web Hosting, DBA, UNIX/Linux/Windows Server and Network administration practices and Data Center operations
Knowledge of structured ETL, API services, reporting, warehousing and analytics.
