VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER, GIANT EAGLE, INC.

The Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Giant Eagle, Inc. is a highly visible, key leadership role and a Member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The Vice President and CIO*s primary mission is to enable the Company to achieve its business objectives by integrating information systems into the Company landscape by providing excellence in IT strategy, solutions and services and by proactively seeking out and managing demand for IT solutions and services. Key challenges of the role include:
* Function as a business partner and trusted advisor to Giant Eagle*s ELT and serve as a key contributor to the development, deployment and realization of the Company*s Strategic Team Plan; partner with business leadership to determine the information needs that best serve the Company*s customers, Team Members and other stakeholders.
* Ensure excellence in the delivery of information and a portfolio of IT activities and services maximizing service levels to the business while reducing costs by leveraging best-in-class technology, governance, processes, practices and functionality.
* Lead the technology aspect of the Company*s initiatives to transform business processes as well as the Company*s organizational design and technology platforms thereby optimizing operational efficiency and effectiveness as well as competitive advantage.
* Provide innovational leadership to the business by leveraging new technologies and new ways to utilize technology to create value in operational excellence, business intelligence and better ways to communicate to customers and the like.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Giant Eagle, Inc. will be responsible and accountable for:
* Corporate Leadership: Provide expert counsel and guidance to senior management on information technology and its impact across the full range of business strategy, programs, products and services and operational issues.
* IT Vision and Strategy: Stay ahead of technology trends and continuously benchmark both inside and outside of Giant Eagle*s industries to develop short and long-term vision and strategic plans in alignment with and support for the Company*s strategies and goals, business plans, opportunities, products and operating requirements and efficiencies. Seek funding for technology-driven initiatives that have strategic value and attractive rates of return. Conduct on-going strategic sourcing to identify the most cost effective, efficient and appropriate utilization of internal, contracted and out-sourced functions including systems, infrastructure and network facilities, operations, maintenance and support.
* IT Governance: Provide cost effective management, rationalization and simplification of the Company*s portfolio of systems and projects. Establish and enforce IT policies, best practices, processes, systems and technology portfolio and lifecycle management, program and project management (PMO), development standards, methodologies and the like.
* Systems: Proactively and comprehensively look throughout Giant Eagle for opportunities to implement or enhance systems that will increase operational efficiency. Using Giant Eagle Business Systems (GEBS) methodology, direct the definition, architecture, development, implementation, maintenance and support of application systems to include off the-shelf solutions wherever possible which drive and enable business objectives by providing:
- Deployment of an optimized suite of standard business processes;
- Systems that perform expedient, efficient, accurate and secure information and transaction flow for internal business operations and administrative functions;
- Systems that deliver extraordinary customer service and engender loyalty;
- Insightful and timely customer, market and business intelligence that assists decision making and facilitates competitive advantage;
- Global compliance support for all government, regulatory and statutory requirements.
* Systems Delivery and Performance: Ensure performance to all elements - cost, schedule, budget, scalability and agility - as they relate to the existing plan and forecast; continuously improve cost performance while introducing new IT functionality and innovation.
* Technology, Infrastructure & Telecommunications: Ensure that the Company has the infrastructure to meet its growth needs. Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art information technology, voice and data network communications as well as emerging technologies. Identify appropriate technologies for IT initiatives and produce technology-driven innovations to further facilitate business objectives.
* Security: Direct the continuous and secure operation, administration and maintenance of the corporate computing and networking infrastructure including information security and privacy, disaster recovery and business continuity.
* Customer Service: Provide training and support for all internal customers. Create and maintain a world-class Help Desk and Problem Resolution processes with which to deliver exemplary service to both internal and external customers.
* Management: Hire, develop, coach, appraise, reward and retain a highly qualified global IT staff. Instill Giant Eagle*s Common Purpose and Core Values and build a culture of trust throughout the team. Use GEBS methodology to design the department*s work to ensure the highest quality and lowest cost. Motivate and mentor IT management and staff. Lead by example through appropriate participation and involvement in and oversight of IT activities. Plan and provide continuity and succession for all critical IT positions.
* Budgeting: Develop the Company*s IT budget. Monitor budgetary performance, review and approve all capital expenditures and ensure budget compliance. Create effective partnerships and negotiate advantageous agreements with external service providers and hardware and software vendors.

* Transform, modernize and enhance IS; evaluate legacy processes, governance, staff and organization and make changes where appropriate; create a road map for an optimal reorganization and deployment of IS assets and resources to function as a true partner with the business driven by creativity and inspired by consumers; establish a culture of excellence and an orientation to service within IS, founded on delivering on its commitments in a highly collaborative and transparent manner.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
As the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Giant Eagle, Inc., we seek a highly qualified Information Technology executive who possesses an outstanding record of professional accomplishment and a broad range of experience including substantial experience in large-scale IT leadership. This experience will be focused principally on business solutions, preferably in Retail or a related industry and with transformational impact. The VP and CIO will possess solid technical knowledge and a reputation and passion for delivering world-class IT services with a multi-cultural perspective and experience working with business partners.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to assume significant senior-level leadership as well as program and project management responsibilities. The VP and CIO must be well versed in all aspects of systems development, deployment and support and be a proven leader in managing in a growth environment. This individual must also have a proven record of developing Team Members consistent with the demand characteristics inherent in Information Technology.

The Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Giant Eagle, Inc. will be a pragmatic and innovative thinker and a results-oriented leader driven by service quality. He/she must help set and deliver against expectations with expertise in large-scale program and project management. Equally significant qualifications include the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, excellent leadership abilities and management skills with a proven record of planning, implementing and managing change as well as in budget and resource management.

Other important personal attributes include but are not limited to professionalism, integrity, dedication, a high level of energy, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship building and management skills. EDUCATION
A baccalaureate degree is anticipated; a graduate degree is a plus.
