Position Summary The , will provide leadership for the successful development and delivery of Medical strategies and services related to scientific communications, medical education, internal and external Medical Information needs, scientific review and oversight including compliance for promotional and medical materials, and support for Congress events. The position will lead and develop staff who not only deliver high quality best practice outputs regarding their respective areas, but would have the capability to leverage their capabilities across the team. The Global Medical Communications team will provide support and be seen as a resource globally for GMA staff and other functional partners such as the Commercial organization The VP will ensure that all activities and output are considered from a cross-functional perspective for alignment with Medical, R&D and broader Alexion strategies.\u00a0 Job Duties & Responsibilities Accountable for all aspects of scientific communication strategies for portfolio products in collaboration with the GMAL\u2019s and the individual Global Medical Affairs TA plans. Manages a cross-functional publication team and develops publication plans. Ensures compliance with all legal regulatory and company requirements for scientific communications. Ensures alignment of global medical education needs with regional \/country needs. Manages all aspects of publication and medical education agencies in support of scientific communications. Identifies and screens appropriate vendors, solicits, evaluates and approves proposals. Ensures alignment across Global and Local publication plans Initiates and sponsors functional excellence enhancement projects to drive long term medical education and publications excellence across entire department \/ organization Leading and managing a global Medical Information team Establishing and implementing global Medical Information Services strategy that provides timely, accurate, unbiased medical information to customers in an effective and compliant way Responsible for overseeing and managing all medical aspects of assigned material review projects related to pre-marketed and marketed products to meet internal and external customer needs Plan, develop and implement educational plans, including scientific symposia, Congresses, CME, and other scientific programs that communicate important information to the medical and scientific community Essential Qualifications Minimum 15 years biotech\/pharmaceutical experience Strong Medical and Scientific background \u2013 detailed knowledge about early and late stage product development Strong publications record PhD or MD Documented people management skills Strong communication skills Innovative approach Strong motivational leadership skills Strong cross functional collaboration skills Finding solutions in a resource constrained environment Results oriented and able to meet tough deadlines Ability to drive solutions in a tough external Scientific environment Manage multiple internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative, proactive and productive way Preferred Qualifications Clinical development experience\u00a0 *LI-CS1 Boston, MA, United States
