We are seeking a VP of Biopharmaceutical Partnerships to lead deal-making to launch new therapeutic development programs with biopharmaceutical partners. This Mountain View-based role is part of our core team and is critical to our success; compensation is reflective of a series-A startup and is commensurate with skills & experience. The ideal candidate has 15 years’ experience establishing drug development partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies.

We leverage our computational platform to identify promising drug candidates, validate and de-risk them through preclinical studies, and progress candidates to the clinic through industry and investor partnerships. We have established collaborations with leading biopharmaceutical companies and are now scaling the business and building our internal drug pipeline. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is venture-backed with financing from SoftBank Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz and has strong ties to Stanford University and MIT. Our management team and advisory board have decades of biopharmaceutical management experience, built software systems used by tens of millions of people, held VP and C-level positions at Fortune 100 companies, and have had previous startups end with successful strategic acquisitions.
Responsibilities Include:
Maintain and build **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s opportunity pipeline for biopharmaceutical partnerships (joint
de novo
discovery and development of novel, first-in-class therapeutics)
Work with the Director of Marketing to align **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s marketing to biopharmaceutical partnership goals and define a strategy to build a promising pipeline of partnership opportunities
Represent **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. at appropriate partnering and scientific conferences to cultivate new partnership opportunities and advance in-flight discussions
Lead all aspects of deal sourcing from search and evaluation to due diligence and partnership scoping
Develop and negotiate terms and agreements with potential partners for a broad range of business structures
Annually close 5-7 drug development partnerships with biopharmaceutical organizations
Work with the management team to align deal pipeline and deal structures with the company vision to achieve related goals
Required skills:
Depth of scientific knowledge to clearly understand partner needs and communicate **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. value
Sound understanding of the biopharma discovery and preclinical environment, including exit opportunities for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s partnered programs
Ability to build consensus around innovative methodologies that are unlike traditional drug discovery
Knowledge on how to penetrate organizations, identify key stakeholders, and influence deals to close
Ability to build relationship-based partnerships with heads of disease research
Ability to work with effectively with internal resources to deliver on stated responsibilities and manage multiple biopharma partnership opportunities simultaneously
Ability to think creatively to identify greenfield partnership opportunities and favorable deal structures
Experience with drafting and interpreting term sheets for a broad range of deal types
Thorough understanding of IP, licensing, joint venture and other partnering agreements
Track record of efficiently closing contracts while negotiating favorable and sustainable deal terms
15 years establishing drug development partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies
PhD in biology, life sciences or equivalent
Deal sheet reflecting a track record of leading and closing impactful drug development partnerships
Startup-minded: high-energy, self-starter
Passionate about transforming drug discovery to be faster, more efficient, and successful
Cultural fit: Genuine, collaborative, innovative, data-driven, & goal-oriented
Willingness to travel (25-50%)
