Position Description

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Patient Access Services will be responsible for assembling and leading a high-performing team for all aspects of patient access services, deploying a “customer-centric” approach to the assigned revenue cycle components, enabling AUH to achieve its overall strategic and financial goals. The Assistant Vice President of Patient Access Services will be is responsible for overseeing scheduling, registration, financial clearance, and financial counseling for hospital and medical group departments and will have exceptional experience managing complex patient access areas. This person will exhibit strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to manage conflict, and have a working knowledge of hospital and medical group operations. The role must also have the ability to manage both clinical and non-clinical work groups across the health system. Additionally, The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for standardizing patient access processes and implementing best-practices across the organization, ensuring productivty standards are met and maintained. The AVP of Patient Access coordinates with the AVP of Centralized Business Office (CBO) Operations and AVP for Health Information Management (HIM) in the development and execution of the revenue cycle strategy under the direction of the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Services.

Position Requirements

Education:

• Master’s degree in business or health related field preferred

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience or 7 years’ relevant experience may be considered in place of Master’s Degree Experience:

• 10 years’ healthcare experience, preferably in hospital and physician business office leadership role. Leadership:

• A proven leader with significant revenue cycle experience to lead the integration of all front-end revenue cycle processes

• Proven record in leadership, mentoring and development of direct reports

• Demonstrates a desire to provide guidance in order to help direct reports achieve growth, established goals, and desired outcomes

• True “change agent” able to lead diverse groups in implementing new programs and ideas. A courageous, innovative and energetic individual with a “can do attitude” that can inspire an organization to do its best and stay the course even in difficult circumstances

• Exhibits strength of character to champion risk taking; a self-starter and self-motivated

• A true collaborator, that can influence by actively listening and bringing multi-disciplinary teams (clinical operations, care providers, administration, etc.) together

• Serve as a transformation advocate to generate enthusiasm and excitement for change Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

• HFMA Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Revenue Cycle subject matter expertise

• Knowledge and expertise across hospital and professional revenue cycle functions

• Outstanding management abilities and a demonstrated track record of leadership

• Expertise with responsibility for large groups of employees is required

• Strong communication skills both in verbal and written form and the ability to effectively communicate to other operational leaders, executives, physicians, and staff

• Strong analytical capacity

• Capability to serve as both a leader and a coach with demonstrated ability to work as a team or independently

• Thorough understanding of healthcare financial trends and financial systems/tools
