AVP, Credit Strategy (L11)
Assume ownership of enterprise-wide Customer Requested Line Increase strategies for acquisitions, early lifecycle and existing accounts across all SYF programs. Provide analytical insights, support and recommendations for credit strategies, initiatives and projects. Work directly with business and portfolio leadership to establish strategic direction for each client. Work cross functionally to ensure risk strategies are performing as expected. Provide direction and support to other team members including mentorship.
Develop portfolio, product and client level strategies that minimize both Synchronyâ€™s and the retailersâ€™ risk, while continuing to grow the portfolio
Proactively research and identify key concerns and areas of opportunity for customer requested line increase strategies, tools and processes across the business and lead discussions to review recommendations with client teams
Make recommendations for tactical and strategic action plans for execution within Credit and other functional areas as needed by collecting and analyzing data from various sources to identify portfolio risks and opportunities
Initiate and lead credit and fraud strategy initiatives as well as enhancement projects using latest development techniques and test/control processes
Work closely with Risk leaders and client teams to ensure strategies support both business and client objectives
Perform pre-implementation strategies and model validations and ensure strategy governance including required documentation is executed
Facilitate and install credit monitoring and tracking systems designed to quantify the differences in effectiveness of alternative credit strategies
Work cross-functionally to drive profitable growth and client satisfaction
Drive enhanced strategies utilizing new tools and scores to manage exposure and ensure positive customer experience
Provide Credit Strategy development support for new products, channels and other enterprise-wide projects
Work with portfolio teams to ensure consistency in business plans
Leverage and incorporate breadth of portfolio acquisitions risk management experience into value-added best practices
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Bachelorâ€™s degree and minimum 2 yearsâ€™ experience in retail, business or private label credit; or in lieu of a degree 6 yearsâ€™ experience in retail, business or private label credit
Minimum 2 yearsâ€™ experience in Risk / Credit Strategy Development and / or Management
Demonstrated expert proficiency with SAS and/or SQL programming, Model builder
Expert level proficiency with Excel
Experience operating at a strategic level as part of a cross functional team
Use of advanced technical & analytical competencies in driving effective strategic goals within a significant functional area
Strong communication and presentation skills
Familiarity with consumer and commercial lending products and practices
Masterâ€™s Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent advanced degree
Handling of statistical tools such as Model Builder Decision Tree, Knowledge Seeker, others.
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 monthsâ€™ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.
