How I Got My C-Level Position: Elle Kaplan’s Story

I am the CEO and founding partner of one of the only 100% woman-owned asset management firms in the US. After a successful career of over a decade at some of the top banks on Wall Street, I left corporate banking to become an independent entrepreneur and founded my wealth management firm, Lexion Capital. Why? After years of searching in vain for the ideal, independent, values-based, truly client-centric firm, I decided to build my own. I dreamed of working towards a higher mission: revolutionizing Wall Street. I thought I could make the most impact by building something unique, completely from scratch, according to my vision.

Today my firm, Lexion Capital, is thriving and continues to grow rapidly. We are setting a new, higher standard on Wall Street with independent, ethical, transparent wealth management. Beyond building a company, we are building a movement to raise the bar in finance. What got me this far was my extremely strong belief in my values and my vision. When talking about my business idea - a completely independent, client-centric wealth management firm that makes fiduciary care accessible - I heard again and again, "Are you crazy?" However, I was not deterred from my dream. You have to be the one to make it happen, and if the right opportunity fails to present itself, create your own. No one can advocate for you like you can.
