Management Greed Sparks Negative Motivation in Teamwork

If you have watched the fall of Wall Street executives lately, you would think there might be a lot of CEO jobs available. Many of the CEO and CFO jobs that are open on Wall Street involve the same kind of salary greed that have left many of the leaders of large companies looking for another job. With the near bankruptcy of many large companies, the ''C Level'' careers, such as CFO careers and CEO careers don't seem as lucrative as they once did.

Many companies are falling apart for more reasons than exorbitant paychecks at the top management levels, such as those in CEO jobs or CFO jobs. It involves a lack of support and teamwork from lower level employees who are seeing fellow employees laid off, and are facing layoff themselves to improve profitability of a company, while top management gets bonuses and stock options.

Many of the boards of directors of these large companies are looking for team leaders that aren't ''prima donnas'' who bring little to the bottom line. With stockholders and board members monitoring profitability levels closely, most of these companies have cut their labor force by as much as half, while they have been paying CEO and CFO jobs millions and billions of dollars in salary, severance pay and stock options, in the past.



If you are looking for CEO jobs or CFO jobs in today's job market, it is more important that you are a team leader, who encourages team development for profitability. This doesn't mean that you have to be the CEO that draws a dollar a year as a gesture of contribution, but it means you have to be realistic in your expectations and more creative in developing your team.

On your resume, this is important, if you hope to have lucrative CFO careers or CEO careers that last. You should highlight team effort and team building as an important part of your leadership abilities. Many of the successful CEOs and CFOs have come up with plans to reward the entire team, instead of top management. Everybody can participate in bonuses, stock options and other benefits, if you are able to use your leadership skills to execute a good plan.

If you have nurtured teamwork in your past positions, many of the CEO jobs or CFO jobs are now requiring it, so make sure that you highlight any of these kinds of efforts. Avoid using ''I'' too much in cover letters, unless you are describing how you led a team or implemented something for team or employee incentives. It is not unusual for some human resource departments to gather references from your past employees, if they are able to. What would they say about how you encouraged teamwork and rewarded it?

Negative motivation is easily avoided if your employees feel they are part of a team that will be rewarded for their hard work, instead of laid off or facing pay cuts. Keep this in mind when you are looking for CEO jobs or CFO jobs, and try to live it on a daily basis. Highlighting positive motivation efforts on behalf of your employees or team are what many interviewers are looking for on your resume or in your cover letter.
